First off, apologies to anyone who was patiently waiting for the delay of the release of this “greatest misses” collection, promised in the Spring of 2007, but not delivered until late Fall (or maybe even Winter. We did make the calendar year, at least!)  And why?  For what good reason could an “album” of already-recorded material be delayed?

Well, with any type of retrospective piece of work, there is a lot of unnatural selection and revisionist history to consider… “what to leave in, what to leave out” as the Seger once said.  Especially with a b-sides album from a band that’s had almost 20 different members since its inception, but has had the same line-up for the last four.

A lot of the early recorded material proceeded the current Rivergods… and well some of it is interesting, too much might just be too much.  (A lot of it is unreleased for a reason!)  Regardless, there was consideration, mulling over, pondering, navel-gazing… too much, in fact, so that finally we came back to “Fuck it… some of our fans want to hear some new Rivergods material… even if it’s old!  Let’s just put it out.  Why does it have to be anything other than what it is… a bunch of unreleased tracks posted on our website??”.
